S'poreans warm up to skiing holidays

SKIING is taking off among Singaporean travellers during the year-end peak holiday season.

The trend has picked up in the last two years, fuelled in part by a growing number of people who have studied or worked abroad, and have been exposed to winter sports.

Travel agents say South Korea, in particular, is a hot draw, with one boost coming from the popularity of Korean dramas which feature gorgeous winter scenery.

China is also fast coming up as a popular destination because of lower costs and ease of language.

Travel agents also report a higher demand for customised itineraries for the hardcore skiers.

For the full report, read Tuesday's edition of The Straits Times.
