PORT DICKSON, MALAYSIA: Organisers of parties or similar events at the popular beach destination will be subject to more stringent rules in the future, said state Tourism, Unity, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman, Mohamad Razi Kail.
He said though the state wanted to increase tourist arrivals, it could not allow hotels and event organisers to do as they wished.
He said the recent "Two Days of Freedom" party, which was held here last Friday and Saturday nights, had upset the locals and the authorities were determined not to allow a recurrence.
The event which went on to almost 4am saw skimpily-clad youths consuming alcohol openly, while 41 were arrested for substance abuse.
Although there were several policemen on duty, they were unable to control the more than 10,000 crowd, which included foreigners.
The organisers had charged an entry fee of RM113 to join the event which was held at a popular resort along Jalan Pantai.
Popular foreign disc-jockeys and entertainers were brought in to entertain the crowd, while the event was also widely publicised.
Meanwhile, state Narcotics Department chief, Superintendent R. Ravichandran said the 41 youths, who included college students, would be charged soon.
He said most of them had used ketamine pills and syabu, while some had also used heroin.
Port Dickson Assemblyman M. Ravi who made a surprise visit during the event said several youths were seen "high" on drugs while others were openly consuming liquor.
