Wonders of Islamic tourism

Islamic tourism and travel-related products and services, especially those of 57 OIC countries will be showcased at the event organised by OIC International Business Centre and Donaplus Tours And Travel Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with the Malaysian Islamic Trade Chamber. It is supported by the Tourism Ministry and Tourism Malaysia.

"WITCX 2008 is a ground-breaking forum for the global Islamic tourism industry to meet, interact and transact business," says event executive chairman Datuk Dr Raja Mohamad.

There will be a conference, expo and exhibition/seminar held simultaneously at different venues in PWTC. The expo will see over 1,000 local and international sellers and buyers showcasing their products and services in Hall 4 and 5 while 1,000 delegates will attend the conference at Dewan Tun Hussein Onn. An open exhibition/seminar will take place at Legar Putra.

The event will not only cover haj and umrah tours but will include Islamic destinations in the OIC countries. It will also include Asean and emerging markets in non-Muslim countries like China, India, Korea, Hong Kong and Australia.

"The expo is aimed at increasing intra OIC countries tourist arrivals and tourism-related business and activities," says Raja at the publicity launch recently.

Officiating at the launch was Tourism Malaysia director general Datuk Mirza Mohammad Taiyab who saw the event as an excellent avenue for Malaysia to publicise and show its MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and expositions) facilities.
