THE ninth Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival got off to a roaring start with a three-day celebration in the Klang Valley. It kicked off on July 3 with an event that saw 192 foreign media from 10 countries, dressed in bright red Shopping Safari T-shirts walking around the Bukit Bintang shopping district.
The Shopping Safari walk-a-hunt was part of the Pressmen's four-day Mega Familiarisation Tour held in conjunction with the sale carnival.

On Saturday, there were happenings at major shopping malls in the Klang Valley. In Selangor, there were hot-air balloon rides at Sunway Pyramid and cultural shows at 1Utama in Petaling Jaya. The celebrations then moved to Kuala Lumpur at The Gardens in MidValley, Berjaya Times Square and ended with a grand finale at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
Attending the launch events were Tourism Ministry secretary general Datuk Dr Ong Hong Peng, its deputy director general Datuk Razali Daud, Pempena Sdn Bhd chairman Datuk Philip Chan Hong Keong and Shopping Secretariat Malaysia general manager Tony Mariadas.
The three-day launch ended with Tourism Minister Datuk Azalina Othman welcoming tourists at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang on Monday afternoon.
Earlier, at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal, Tourism Malaysia director general Datuk Mirza Mohamad Taiyab surprised passengers on an AirAsia flight from Hong Kong with colourful Mega Sale Carnival goodie-bags.
