PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA - AirAsia X has offered one-way fares from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne, Australia, from RM99.

Flights from Melbourne back to Kuala Lumpur will be priced from A$199 (RM577).

There will be four flights a week to Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) with the first taking off on Nov 12.

Interested travellers can start booking their tickets online during the promotional period beginning today until Sunday for flights from Nov 12 to April 30.

The long-haul low-cost airline said in a statement that it was already planning to increase flights during the peak season from December to mid-January.

Chief executive officer Azran Osman-Rani said the new flights were the result of a collaborative effort between the Victoria state government, the airline and the industry.

Melbourne is the third Australian destination offered by AirAsia X, aside from Gold Coast and Perth.

The airline currently operates four weekly flights to Gold Coast and will be flying to Perth five times per week.

To book, visit www.airasia.com or mobile.airasia.com.
