KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA -  AirAsia will give refunds or provide replacement flights to Phuket and Krabi-bound passengers due to the closure of the airports there.

Anti-government protesters had blocked access to the Phuket and Krabi airports since Friday.

Twenty Malaysians were stranded at the Phuket International Airport for their AirAsia flight to Kuala Lumpur on Friday night.

Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia have cancelled their Phuket-bound flights until further notice.

Together with Phuket and Krabi airport authorities, AirAsia helped shuttle stranded passengers from the airport to hotels.

An AirAsia spokesperson said passengers could opt to fly on the next available flight without having to pay any extra charges.

He said another was to opt for an e-voucher valid for three months.

For those who have bought the ?GoHoliday? packages, he said the airline would negotiate with the hotels involved to move the room bookings to another date.
