PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA: Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia will resume flights to and from the Survanabhumi International Airport in Bangkok tomorrow.
The airport had been closed since Nov 25 after protesters took over the terminal last week in an attempt to topple Thai Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat's government.
The protesters started leaving the airport yesterday following the country's constitutional court declaring the People's Power Party-led coalition illegal.
Both airlines were forced to use the U-Tapao naval base airfield, about 190km from Bangkok, to fly out stranded passengers.
MAS director of operations Datuk Tajuden Abu Bakar said the airline would operate its last flights into and out of U-Tapao today.
"We will then resume our flights into and out of Bangkok with one daily flight initially, effective Friday.
"Flight MH782 will depart from the KLIA for Bangkok at 3.15pm and the return flight MH783 from Bangkok will depart at 5.10pm, arriving at the KLIA at 8.15pm," he said in a statement yesterday.
AirAsia confirmed that it would start flying to Suvarnabhumi tomorrow.
