Thick fog hits air, rail traffic in northern India

>NEW DELHI, Jan 6, 2009 (AFP) - Large numbers of flights and trains were cancelled or delayed in northern India Tuesday as the capital and surrounding areas were blanketed in thick fog.

Dozens of international and domestic flights to and from New Delhi were cancelled, delayed or diverted as visibility dropped to as little as 50 metres (165 feet), airport officials said.

Indian railways said at least a dozen services had been cancelled.
