SPH Magazines' SilverKris wins award for Penang feature

SPH Magazines’ SilverKris has won an award at the recent Asean Tourism Forum (ATF) 2009 in Hanoi

The travel magazine of Singapore Airlines (SIA) was presented the title of Best Asean Travel Article last Friday for the story “Penang Past and Present” by writer Gordon Hammond.

The win, part of the 23rd Asean Tourism Association (ASEANTA) Awards For Excellence in Tourism, brings to six the total number of awards SilverKris has bagged for SPH Magazines.

“Penang Past and Present” is Gordon’s account of his visit back to the Malaysian island after 50 years and was published in the November 2008 issue of SilverKris.

Ms Joanna Lee, Associate Group Editor, SPH Magazines, said: "We are encouraged by our win, which recognises the level of creativity and hard work that the team puts into every issue in their pursuit for excellence, while offering stories that inspire people to travel and to discover new experiences.”

SilverKris is produced by SPH Magazines' Custom Publishing unit.
