Ready to get wet? No matter where you find yourself this Songkran, this year's traditional New Year celebrations are waiting for you.
Starting from tomorrow, Thais will be sending their best wishes for a happy new year in buckets - of water, that is.
In Bangkok, the craziest battles usually take place on Khao San and Silom roads, but more cultural celebrations can be found around Rattanakosin Island.
At Wat Po, there's an extensive array of food and desserts as well as cultural performances. It is also believed that good luck and fortune will prevail throughout the year if you are blessed at nine temples in one day.
Ayutthaya's Historic Park is packed with activities. On Monday, start the celebrations early by offering alms to monks and receiving the blessing of elders. Then take part in sand-pagoda ceremonies along with elephant riding, food and an Otop festival.
Up in Isaan
In the northeastern town of Nong Khai, the celebrations take place on the banks of the mighty Mekong. Make merit by pouring scented water on the revered Buddha statue, Luang Pho Phra Sai. That's followed by some water splashing, beautiful processions and tasty local food. There are also big celebrations in Udon Thani and Nakhon Phanom.
Down south
In Phuket, it's also Beach and Bike Week. From tomorrow until Monday, there'll be water splashing plus fresh seafood and a bike procession. In Hat Yai, the fun starts in the late afternoon and continues through midnight, with plenty of music and entertainment.
