The Star/Asia News Network

PULAU BESAR, Malaysia: Kosmo! front-paged a report about several chalets in Pulau Besar, Malacca, that had been constructed on a site that is believed to be a large settlement for orang bunian (ghouls).

The resorts, costing millions of ringgit, were built in the 1980s but business failed to pick up despite changes in management.

"This place is keras (haunted)," said a van driver who works in the nearby jetty.

Kosmo! said orang bunian are categorised as creatures from the genie family and tend to divert the journey of ordinary people.

"They have their own ancient Jawi script and are fond of playing the kompang on Fridays from 2am till dawn."

A visit by Kosmo! to the resort found the place in a state of neglected although it was fully decorated.
