Budget airline charges more for seats with extra leg room

I REFER to the letter, "Passenger with baby: Why pay more for first-row seats?" (my paper, June 12).

I would like to thank the writer, Mr Paul Alexander Zhuravlev, for giving us the opportunity to clarify our ticket-purchase policy - in particular, rates for front-row and emergency-exit seats.

In February, Jetstar Asia introduced an extra-leg room upgrade option, which includes reserving seats in row one, to provide more choices to consumers.

This option allows passengers who wish to pay a little more on top of their low Jetstar fare to have extra leg room.

The extra-leg room upgrade option and more details are available at www.jetstar.com and via our 24-hour toll-free call centre.

To ensure that our passengers are aware of this option, announcements about the extraleg room option are also made by our cabin crew on board flights.

We deeply regret the inconsistency in the handling of the matter by our on-ground crew and apologise for the inconvenience caused on Mr Zhuravlev's flight.

We are investigating the matter and our customer-service officer will be in touch with him to provide further assistance.

On behalf of Jetstar Asia, I thank Mr Zhuravlev for taking time to provide us with his feedback.
