Good things, they say, come in small packages - think the Apple iPod and the Mini Cooper. If you're heading to the South of Thailand, you might want to include Le' Sarin Chalet in Ranong on that list.
Tucked away on Ruengrat Road in downtown Ranong, Le' Sarin Chalet is a small and cosy resort that packs a big surprise.
Set in a small tropical garden, the design doesn't scream traditional Thai - more Afghan mud house, but head inside those three whitewashed buildings and you'll find 21 lovely guestrooms.
A small pathway leads from the airy lobby past banana trees and flowering frangipanis into a corridor framed by unpolished benches, tables and assorted woodcarvings.
Inside, the guestrooms are stylish and cosy. There's a double bed that looks inviting under the fluffy white sheets. The bathroom, despite its naked concrete walls, has a fancy sink and the striking red curtain adds a warm glow.
There's TV in the room and a WiFi Internet card is available from reception at Bt100 per hour.
Le' Sarin doesn't boast a restaurant, although an American breakfast can be arranged.
Thirsty travellers can get a cold beer at the small bar, a great place to sit and jot down your adventures or share your travel tales with other friendly souls.
At Bt650 a night, Le' Sarin Chalet is cheap and surprisingly chic. It's also a rewarding experience for any traveller deciding to check out sleepy Ranong.
