I will be going to Canada on an exchange programme for the first half of next year. Other than Niagara Falls, what places of attraction would you recommend for cities such as Toronto and Montreal?
John Ng
Montreal, which is the world's second-largest French-speaking city, has many European-style buildings and shops with signs in French.
Located in the province of Quebec, places of interest there include the City Hall, Notre Dame Basilica, Mount Royal Park, St Joseph's Oratory and Olympic Tower, also known as Tour Olympique.
You can enjoy the Canadian countryside along the Saint Lawrence River or walk on cobblestone streets when you explore Old Quebec City. This is the only walled city in North America and a Unesco World Heritage Site.
In Toronto in neighbouring Ontario province, visit the 553.33m-tall CN Tower for mesmerising views of the city.
Head to Lake Ontario, one of the five Great Lakes of North America where you can take a boat cruise to the Thousand Islands and bask in the natural beauty there.
Look out for the pretty glacier-sculpted granite islands and secluded sandy beaches too.
