What a woman thought to be a crocodile floating in a river near a recreation park in Kedah turned out to be a human corpse, reported Harian Metro.
Nor Intan Suraini Mohd Yatim, 36, said the body was spotted by several people exercising in the park near Sungai Kolam Lembaga Kemajuan Pertanian Muda.
"I thought it might have been a crocodile when I saw people pointing at the river," she said.
Nor Intan, her husband and son were on the way to her in-law's house when she noticed a group of people on the riverbank.
"My husband pulled over and we got out to find out what was happening.
"It turned out to be a body that was still fully clothed. The police came shortly afterwards," she said.
Pendang police chief Deputy Supt Arriz Sham Hamezah said the victim was believed to be a man in his 40s, adding that the body was in the river for at least 24 hours.
