THE month of May is synonymous with parties on the beaches of Ibiza in Spain. Although Malaysia may not be up there with Ibiza yet, we certainly have the climate and beaches to make it a clubbing paradise.

With the introduction of '02 Days of Freedom' to the festival calendar, we've come one step closer to that goal.

Set amongst the masts and decks of the Admiral Marina in Port Dickson, the festival features some of the trance scene's most seasoned outdoor performers - Tiesto, Ferry Corsten and Cosmic Gate - names guaranteed to rock crowds of any size.

Tiesto will perform from midnight until 3am tonight and tomorrow on the main stage. Joining him on the stage tonight, from 9pm to midnight, is Ferry Corsten.

Known as a trance music icon, he is regarded as the scene's first major crossover star whose aliases (System F and Moonman) have provided some of the genres defining tracks and mixes.

He established the pioneering Trance Nation compilations series with Ministry of Sound (MOS), propelling trance mixes out of the underground and into international album charts, and his Passport series of mixes has become a byword for quality and inventiveness on the scene.

Tomorrow night at 9pm on the main stage, get ready to welcome the metallic sound of Germany's Cosmic Gate comprising the hard trance duo of DJ Bossi and Nic Chagall.

Paving the way for Tiesto might be considered a daunting task for some acts, but for Cosmic Gate, who is no stranger to the mainstream charts (their track Fire Wire was a major crossover in 2001), it was business as usual.

For the second stage, the stars of the massive Ministry of Sound in Singapore are ready to set the night on fire.

One of the highlights will be the nightly 'sound clash' between the United Kingdom's DJ Tang (a British DMC Championship finalist in 1999, 2000 and 2002 and famed for his smooth mixing and now a resident at MOS Singapore) and DJ Rattle, one of Singapore's finest turntablists.

Complementing them will be Stephen Day, a British DJ whose blend of house and '80s electro has been a huge attraction at the Singapore club scene.

The festival starts at 5pm and will run until late. It will be held at the Admiral Marina in Port Dickson.

Tickets (pre-sale) are at RM88 (one day pass) and RM153 (two-day pass). You can also purchase them at the door for RM113 (one day pass).
