MALAYSIA - MALAYSIA Pavilion at the Expo Zaragoza 2008 in Zaragoza, Spain now has its own official website, www.malasia-zaragoza-2008.com
The site, available in Spanish, English and French, is aimed to show visitors the many attractions offered at the pavilion, as well as in the country.
"The website is a window for visitors to discover the many wonders of Malaysia and to appreciate the role of wetlands in a country where water is the living essence," says Malaysia Pavilion section commissioner general Dr Victor Wee.
The website is also a helpful tool for those planning to visit Expo Zaragoza 2008 in the forthcoming weeks and those who had visited the Malaysia Pavilion to recall their pleasant experiences.
It shows images of what visitors can experience in the pavilion as well as what they can enjoy in Malaysia as a destination for eco-tourism activities, unspoiled beaches, a mix of contemporary and tradition set in a colourful natural scenario.
Visitors to the website will get information like the calendar of activities and an interactive map showing the pavilion's main attraction where water is integrated with sustainable elements.
The official Malaysia Pavilion website also provides links to organisations where more information about Malaysia can be obtained, including the websites of the Ministry of Tourism and Tourism Malaysia.
Malaysia is among more than 50 countries participating in the event which is touted to be the world's largest expo on Water And Sustainable Development held in Spain's beautiful city of Zaragoza for three months until Sept 14.
Malaysia Pavilion reflects the country's natural treasures, taking visitors through her legacy of wetlands, beaches, lakes, rivers and waterfalls as well as diversified flora and fauna.
Among these natural elements, the pavilion recreates a kampung house and a natural wetland with a giant tortoise.
At this kampung house, visitors are invited to join in traditional games and typical Malaysian pastime activities such as congkak, batu seremban and blow-pipe.
For an authentic Malaysian feel, there are traditional dance performances like asyik, tudung saji, zapin and wau bulan as well as ethnic dances from Sabah and Sarawak.
There are also programmed activities which include briefing on water, wetlands, freshwater and lakes and interactive images and videos of Malaysia as a nature and eco-destination. There are also demonstrations on batik fabric painting using the wax application technique.
Every Wednesday, Malaysia's Pavilion ambassadors present a special 20-minute 'Travel Malaysia' guide highlighting many eco-based activities relating to water and nature. The topics change weekly and include water and spa rituals, upriver longboat cruises and more.
To date, more than 236,297 visitors have visited the Malaysia Pavilion, averaging about 10,000 visitors per day.
The highlight will be a grand celebration of National Day on Aug 31. Also featured are special programmes consisting events such as Colours Of Malaysia Parade and Cultural Gala evening.
