SINGAPORE'S visitor arrivals dropped 9.7 per cent in November compared with the same period last year, as a worsening global economic climate crimped demand for travel, the country's tourism agency said on Friday.

The Singapore Tourism Board said visitor arrivals fell to 760,000 in November from 841,648 visitors last year. The total time spent in Singapore rose 0.1 per cent compared to last year, to an estimated 3.1 million visitor-days.

Singapore had 844,000 visitors in October.

Hotel room revenues also fell 6 per cent compared with a year earlier, reaching $161 million.

Singapore has reported year-on-year declines in visitor arrivals since June this year.
