Nestled in the Valley of Eternal Spring, The Lakehouse transports visitors to a time when the British were the main weekend visitors. You can enjoy afternoon tea as it was introduced by the English, served with dainty cucumber sandwiches and scones with butter and jam. FLOWER NURSERIES

Cameron Highlands is a leading producer of flowers in Malaysia; be prepared for a lovely sight of extraordinary flowers you won't see flourishing elsewhere in the country. Flowers grown here include roses, carnations, chrysanthemum, dahlia, geranium, fuschia and gladioli. You can buy cheap flowers at flower nurseries or the market.
STRAWBERRY FARMS

Although highland strawberries tend to be slightly smaller than those grown in Europe, they are just as sweet and delicious. At the strawberry farms, you will be allowed pluck your own strawberries. It is definitely a sweet and memorable experience. Little kids will certainly love this.
TEA PLANTATIONS

Enjoy your cuppa while you learn about how the best tea is grown and the different blends that make Cameron's tea one of the most prized globally. The Sungai Palas station is the place to go for more information on the subject.
CACTUS VALLEY
Cactus Valley boasts having the most variety of cactus plants, some as old as 60 years. Take home miniature cacti as souvenirs. They are easy to care for.
ROBINSON WATERFALL
This is a popular picnic spot with the locals. The beauty of the cascading waterfall is mesmerising. Take a stroll up Trail 9 and see the waterfall from a different angle.
MARKETS

No visit is complete without checking out the local market and, in Cameron Highlands, you are assured of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables of the best quality.
FOOD
Everything tastes especially good in the highlands. Perhaps the brisk mountain air works up one's appetite. Among the favourites here are the steamboat dinners, available at most restaurants. Continental fare can be had at many of the hotels here while Chinese cuisine is especially good, thanks to the abundance of fresh greens. Also not to be missed are the pancakes at Yong Teng Cafe, which is stall No.4 at the Majlis Daerah complex opposite Agrobank in Tanah Rata; the Hainanese kopitiam, Restoran Sheng Ming, is also very popular, having been around for more than 20 years. For Malay food, the variety in Restoran Zainab Sam is good.
BUTTERFLY FARMS

Butterflies used to be a common sight in the past but rapid development has contributed to a decline in their numbers. Kea Farm and the nearby Butterfly Gardens are now custodians of the increasingly scarce insects that have helped to pollinate plants here for hundreds of years.
JUNGLE TREKKING
Like jungle trekking? Fifteen trails await at Cameron Highlands, each promising a different view of the highlands. Among the trails are the Robinson Trail, Parit Trail, Jasar Trail and Coral Hill Trail.
GETTING THERE
Accessible through the North-South Highway, northbound traffic turn into the Simpang Pulai and Tapah exits. The roads uphill have been widened and are safe for self-drive while buses ply the route from Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur and Penang. Take Federal Route 59 after exiting from the Tapah interchange or use Simpang Pulai to get to the new second East-West Highway 145 and arrive at the first town on the northern end of the highlands, Kampung Raja, in about an hour.
